CU Unearths Benefits to Community Gardens
Recently, University of Colorado researchers published that community gardens have a positive influence on both the individual gardener and the neighborhood. The study finds that gardeners are more likely to “eat more vegetables, exercise more, weigh less and feel healthier than nongardeners—and even home gardeners—in the Denver-metro area.”
The studies, found in the journals of Social Science and Medicine and the American Journal of Public Health, also noted that “community gardeners are more attached to and protective of their neighborhoods.”
The film, "A Garden in Every Neighborhood,” details the study and can be viewed here.
