First Place to Look for a Bank—First Bank, Table Mesa

Much as Boulder rhapsodizes over Elevations Credit Union – and rightfully so, given its ties to the Boulder Valley School District and the University of Colorado – I found that when I went to refinance my house, the best rates were at First Bank.  Since we moved to Boulder in 1992, I have had my accounts at the First Bank at the Table Mesa King Sooper’s.  Given that I grocery shop there, being able to conveniently withdraw money for groceries without having to make an extra trip, or having to venture far from the neighborhood (particularly in bad weather) is a big plus.

So when the rates fell this last summer and my frustration rose at not being able to reach a human being at the national bank that held my mortgage, my relief was huge to find such a phenomenal interest rate (3.5%) for my refinance.  Better yet, I could go into the main office at any time and speak to my mortgage officer – not get channeled through a series of recorded voice messages to a dead end.

First Bank offers a variety of checking, savings, money market, and other accounts.  For more information, click here.
