FoCo City Park Celebrates 100 Years
In the heart of Fort Collins, just north of the Troutman Park neighborhood, rests a community landmark - City Park - which will celebrate its 100th birthday this year. The park spans 85 acres and plays host to family picnics, reunions, moms with their kids, bicyclists and joggers, CSU students studying under shade trees, not to mention flora and fauna.
The history of City Park will be commemorated through a year filled with events and via a dedicated web page. What began as farmland during the late 1800s has transformed through the decades into a focal gathering place in Fort Collins. Check out the timeline of the park here.
Events will include an expanded Fourth of July celebration this summer at City Park. It will feature a parade (100 years of transportation) along with food vendors and entertainment. The City will unveil a web page at fcgov.com that will feature City Park’s history, a calendar of events, a photo gallery and an opportunity to submit photos and stories about City Park. Photos and stories will be shared with the community and displayed throughout the year.
