Spruce It Up
It’s hard not to fall in love with a neighborhood bakery when the air smells like cinnamon buns as you walk home from the bus. That intoxicating aroma of fresh baked treats, a beckoning Americano and even a floor show of watching the bakers work their yeasty magic draws you in at Spruce Confections and Café. This 17-year local veteran of the patisserie trade offers all that; a true local gem in our Holiday area environs, where you can order a fine caffeinated beverage and snack on one of their indulgent creations.
I am partial to the raspberry scones, but if you’re looking for something more substantial there usually have a savory quiche or other fine eggy creation. If it’s lunch you’re after their to-go salads and sandwiches are worth a look, as are the house-made soups. Everything from the bread to those soups (and even dog biscuits) is made from scratch right there in their North Boulder kitchen. There’s even live fiddle music on occasional Friday mornings to get your TGIF off on the right foot. On the warmer days the patio stretches out to the east and offers patrons and their canine companions a wonderful place to relax and savor the tastes and sights of our Nobo hood.
