An architecturally stunning home, the Shapely House was built with a nod towards Usonian design. Created for physicist Alan Shapely who is credited with bringing the Bureau of Standards to Boulder (later NIST), Architect Bernard Cahlander designed the home with custom block, cork flooring, and expansive use of glass. Recent updates include a Galvalume standing seam roof, expanded kitchen featuring Spandrel glass, Caesarstone, Miele appliances, and an 1,106 SQFT heated workshop and garage. The original gazebo where the Shapely family used to entertain with live music on the expansive 1 acre lot remains as do the many organic details of this gorgeous property. To better highlight its potential, a feasibility study has been conducted by Geometry and Materials Architecture for a subdivision and second home. Whether as a multi-dwelling family estate on two parcels, or opportunity to develop and sell a second home, the possibilities for this estate are endless. Video at youtu.be/r2oPC_2ALZM
